Ah still livin'

As the market vendor would say "yeeeiiiisssss, it is I, de *flying pig*; I still 'bout de place". Contrary to popular belief, I have not fallen off the edge of the earth; even though certain 'bananas' wanted me to, after I exposed the fact that they wanted someone "stab out de meat". I doan see wuh suh hard to believe 'bout dat; as a fellow blogger said "lust is [her] favourite sin, no?".

Anyhow, enough about the young lady that wants to be kissed by a man from down under (or was it that she wanted to be kissed down under? hmm...I guess we shall never know!). I've been keeping myself pretty busy reading a couple interesting books. The first was The Question of God: C.S. Lewis and Sigmund Freud Debate Love, God, Sex, and the Meaning of Life by Dr. Armand M. Nicholi, Jr. Quite a nice read about what one of the most prominent atheists and one of the most prominent believers have to say about all topics God-related.

Next up was Truth and Fiction in the Da Vinci Code: A Historian Reveals What We Really Know About Jesus, Mary Magdalene and Constantine by Bart D. Ehrman. This was a very interesting read! Although the author categorises most of Dan Brown's claims as fiction, he does shed a lot of light on the early Church, the books of the new Testament and the historical Jesus. Did you know that most biblical scholars agree that the Gospels were not written by the apostles?

Now I'm reading Is Bill Cosby Right? Or has the Black Middle Class Lost its Mind? by Michael Eric Dyson. It's a response to a speech that Cosby made back in 2004 in which he lambasted the black poor i.e. the "Ghettocracy". It takes a look at the social institutions and broader structural failures/racism that perpetuate the cycle that helps to keep the poor poor, even though they may be working their butts off.
