The Grim Reaper

Looks like this week's blog is going to one of macabre tone; for those of you who can't handle that, read no further. Every time Death raises his head from the depths of Hades, we take a few moments to reflect on our own lives, the people that we care about, and whether they know how we feel about them. Then, we settle back into our sense of complacency and, in some regards, immortality, and continue in our merry ways. That is, until Death decides he's bored and comes to roam among us earthlings once again. The question I ask of those of you reading this, is not whether those people you care about know that you care about them; but, whether you have come to grips with mortality - your own, and that of your loved ones. How many of us really have accepted that we will, at some point in time, depart this life? How many of us delay lots of things in our lives because we continually think that we will have a chance to do them tomorrow, or the day after that? Like millions of people, each morning when I wake up, I say a quick prayer to God and thank Her for the opportunity to see another day. There is, however, one more thing that I do: I say to myself "this could be the day...what are you going to make of it?" Try it sometime; what a perspective-changer it may prove to be! Have a great week people!

Can I get an "Amen"?!

I've been preaching it for years, and here, I present to you the proof that anti-clockwise wukkin' up is the healing of the nation. Here is an excerpt from "Friends" by Lil' Rick and Edwin Yearwood.

"show me that nasty wukkup
show me that stinkin' wukkup
show me that nasty, stinkin' wutless anti-clockwise wukkup"

From the mouths of the artistes who brought you "Hard Wine", "Do Fa Do", "Pump Me up" and "Wet Me"; the men who would be the experts on how to mash up and buy back waists all over the country; and, they proclaim, that anti-clockwise is THE way to go. I don't want to hear ANY talk the next time I roll into a fete and proceed to roll it anticlockwise.

In other news: Happy Birthday Banana Split!!!! I hope you have a great day luv!

Baked Nuts

"Baaaaaked nuts...one fuh a dollar". The call of a nutseller plying her trade as I drove home recently. Consider the nuts that she sells: they have two components - the nut and the seed. Sometimes you take a nut out of the pack and it has a cracked shell, or a shell with a blemish; however, the nut inside is perfect in every way. On the other hand, you grab a nut whose shell may be gleaming; but, the seed contained within is rotten. You may even get a nut whose shell and seed are perfect in every way imaginable. Which nuts do you consume? Surely not the ones with the rotten seeds, even though their shells are unblemished! We consume the nuts that have seeds that are worthwhile and unblemished.

As it is with nuts, so it is with people: all of us have shells and seeds. As we meander through life, judge not the shells of those that you encounter but, rather, their seeds. Remove those nuts from your life whose seeds are rotten even though their shells may be perfect. Cherish those whose seeds are worthwhile, regardless of whether or not their shells are unbroken.
